Coaches and managers volunteer to take on these roles and their nominations are accepted by the Management Committee. During the season, any concerns should first be discussed with the team manager so that the coach is able to watch over the rest of the game or training session. Team Managers and Coaches are advised that before the commencement of the current season that both (Form E) Member Protection Declaration and (Form R) Team Officials Agreement forms must be completed and sent to the Public Officer. These are in the library section on this site. Managers and Coaches are also required to attend a team officials meeting, that will be held before the season starts. Team officials will be notified of the time and date of the meeting and will receive all team information for the season in the form of team information kits. Duty statements for team officials can be located in the Library section of this website. Training requests should be sent to the Junior Co-coordinator and when all requests have been received a training allocation list will be published for the current season.
Online coaching course
The Beginning Coaching General Principles online course has been developed to assist new coaches improve their basic coaching skills, in particular, those coaches working with children. Coaches can complete the course in their own time, from the comfort of their own home. It is initially being made available free of charge to Australian coaches by the Australian Sports Commission. The course contains five modules, covering a range of general coaching topics, including the role and responsibilities expected of a coach, planning, safety, working with parents, communication, group management and inclusive coaching practices when working with people with a disability or special population groups.
